When does the Sabarimala pilgrimage begin in 2025?
The Sabarimala Temple is a temple complex situated at Sabarimala hill within the Periyar Tiger Reserve in Perinad Village, Pathanamthitta district, Kerala, India. It ranks among the largest yearly pilgrimage destinations globally, attracting approximately 40 to 50 million worshippers annually.
Sabarimala temple reopened from November 16, 2025, to December 27. The temple will be accessible for the 41-day Mandala puja festival, ending on December 27. It will reopen on December 30, and darshan will be permitted until January 20 for the Makaravilakku festival. Makaravilakku occurs on January 14th. At present, the daily cap for Sabarimala is set at 70,000 pilgrims through the virtual queue system, with another 20,000 slots open via real-time booking centers. Spot reservations at certain sites have been limited to 5,000 each day due to a Kerala High Court ruling aimed at controlling congestion.
Registration as a pilgrim is required with a valid Mobile Number and e-Mail address to access online Services. Booking a Virtual-Q is not necessary for children under the age of 5.
